Arlecchino=Harlequin, Ferruccio Soleri

Ferruccio Soleri, 50 years of performing Arlecchino.

Denise & I with the touring Piccolo Teatro Milano company at Pantages Theater, Minneapolis. Commedia del arte: note white & red slapsticks actually used in comedy. Standing ovation to an incredibly generous cast & performance. Ferruccio Soleri is 76 and this was his swan song. The architect Paolo Soleri at Arcosanti, Arizona,is Ferruccio's cousin. Paolo designed a self-contained community in AZ. Jennie & Mario went there & have one of his cast bronze windchimes. I tried to interest Gina in living there while Paolo was still teaching but that was right after she had spent 6 months with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps as a social service advocate at Bean's Cafe, a homeless shelter in Anchorage. She experienced three to four hours a day of winter daylight compared to 18 hours of summer daylight when she & I were there. Another favorite architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, built Taliesin West in Scottsdale, AZ & Taliesin East in Spring Green, Wisconsin.
